Privacy Policy — Callaholic

Last updated: 20 May 2026

Callaholic is built around a single principle: your data stays on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

What Callaholic does on your device

Callaholic helps you keep up with the daily practice of calling your fellows. To do that, the app stores:

All of this lives in the app's local database (SwiftData) on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded to any server controlled by the developer.

What Callaholic reads from your iPhone

Callaholic asks for read-only access to your iPhone Contacts. The app uses this to:

Callaholic does not modify your iPhone Contacts. It does not add, edit, or delete entries.

When iOS asks how you want to share contacts, you can choose Full Access (Callaholic sees all your contacts) or Limited Access (Callaholic sees only the contacts you specifically share). Either works; Limited Access just means the indicator scan can only see the contacts you've explicitly shared.

What Callaholic sends off your device

Nothing. Callaholic has no backend server, no analytics SDK, no tracking, no advertising. The developer has no way to see your fellows, your call history, your sobriety dates, or anything else.

The only network requests the app makes are when you tap an external link (for example, a link to this privacy policy). Those open in your browser and are governed by the browser's own privacy behaviour.

Optional iCloud sync (not yet enabled)

Future versions may offer optional iCloud sync, so your fellow tags and call history follow you between Apple devices (e.g. iPhone and iPad). If we add this:

Until you explicitly turn it on, nothing leaves your iPhone.

Anonymity

Callaholic is built with respect for the 12th Tradition. The app never collects identifying information about you or your fellows, never publishes anything to a public profile, never asks for an account, and never shares data with third parties.

Permissions you may see

You can revoke either permission at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security.

Children

Callaholic is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
